After an emphatic win against close rivals, France, the Ireland team have had a dream start and it is only important that they keep the momentum going. It’s time to look forward to the plans for the next game.

The History of Ireland vs Italy

Ireland’s 34-20 win against Italy was their 13th win against the Italian side without a defeat, not forgetting another win came in the World Cup warm-up in 2023. The venue is also a big factor, Italy has never won in Aviva Stadium and they would like to keep it that way.

The Ireland Squad to Face Italy

The game is still a while away, so there isn’t any public team news yet. However, considering the impressive start to the competition especially from Six Nation debutant, Joe McCarthy, and new fly-half, Jack Crowley, it is easy to predict what will be seen in the next game.

The Ireland vs Italy squad for the second round is likely to be more of the same. It’s highly unlikely that manager Andy Farrell will tweak things, especially since Garry Ringrose is expected to remain sidelined by his shoulder injury and is set to miss yet another Six Nations game against Italy. If the France game is anything to go by then that’s a superb team.

Predicted team:

A. Porter (Leinster), J. Crowley (Munster), J. Lowe (Leinster), B. Aki (Connacht), R. Henshaw (Leinster), C. Nash (Munster), H. Keenan (Leinster),  D. Sheehan (Leinster), T. Furlong (Leinster), J. McCarthy (Leinster),  T. Beirne (Munster), P. O’Mahony (Munster, capt), J. van der Flier (Leinster), C. Doris (Leinster), J. Gibson-Park (Leinster).

R. Kelleher (Leinster), C. Healy (Leinster), F. Bealham (Connacht), J. Ryan (Leinster), R. Baird (Leinster), J. Conan (Leinster), C. Murray (Munster), C. Frawley (Leinster).

What Changes Could Italy Make

On the flipside, the Italian team is certain to make at least one change as forward, Sebastian Negri suffered a “rib contusion” in their closely fought loss to England. It won’t be a surprise if that’s the only change from the Azzurri team. Their loss to England can be boiled down to a loss of concentration in the early minutes of the second half.

When is Ireland vs Italy?

The match is scheduled to be held on 11th February (15:00 GMT)
